Three Islamic State (IS) militants were killed on Friday in an airstrike on an IS hideout in Iraq's eastern province of Daiyala, the Iraqi military said, APA reports.
Based on intelligence reports, the Iraqi military carried out an airstrike at 7:00 p.m. local time (1600 GMT) on an IS hideout in the Hamrin mountain range, destroying the hideout and killing three IS militants inside, according to a statement from the Security Media Cell, a media outlet affiliated with the Iraqi Joint Operations Command.
The statement said all weapons and equipment inside the hideout were destroyed, stressing that more details about the raid will be revealed later.
The security situation in Iraq has improved since the defeat of the IS in 2017. However, IS remnants have sneaked into urban centers, deserts, and rugged areas, carrying out frequent guerilla attacks against security forces and civilians
