In an interview with TIME, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China called him, APA reports.
Trump mentioned that the Chinese leader reached out to him regarding tariffs, and his administration is actively negotiating with the Chinese to reach an agreement: "I don't think that's a sign of weakness on his behalf."
He also stated that he expects the full deal schedule to be announced within the next three to four weeks.
Trump emphasized that he still believes tariffs are necessary.
