The U.S. State Department disputes a report from The New York Times about a draft executive order allegedly under consideration by the Trump administration that would overhaul the department and reshape U.S. foreign policy, with a spokesperson telling Newsweek that the reporting is "entirely based on a fake document", APA reports.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed a similar sentiment, calling the article "fake news" in an early Sunday morning post on X, formerly Twitter. Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment and a spokesperson responded by sharing Rubio's social media post.
Newsweek has not reviewed the draft.
