Mazahir Panahov: The reports that state and government structures interfered in the election process are groundless

He gave information about the conduct of the elections, registration of the candidates, allocation of free airtime, appeals to the CEC. Mazahir Panahov said the reports that state and government structures interfered in the election process are groundless.

Following this, judges of the Constitutional Court gave several questions to Mazahir Panahov and he answered the questions.

Professor of constitutional law chair of the faculty of law of Baku State University Elshad Nasirov addressed the meeting in capacity of expert. He said the November 7 elections were in line with the Constitution, free, fair and democratic, he gave positive opinion on the election process.

Representative of the State Statistical Committee Ulduze Hamidova publicized the figures related to the election.

CEC member Gulaga Aslanli said he prepared a special opinion, but it was not added to the final protocol of the CEC.
“CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov said the opinion can not be added to the final protocol without signing it. therefore I posted the opinion to the CEC,” he said.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev said he agreed with Mazahir Panahov.

Gulaga Aslanli dropped remarks on the recent amendments and annexes to the election legislation and November 7 elections. Following this, he submitted his opinion on the parliamentary elections to the Constitutional Court. CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov said CEC member Gulaga Aslanli spoke like the representative of the political party.
“It contradicts the Election Code,” he said.

In response to Aslanli’s claims Mazahir Panahov said the number of those who voted beyond the voters’ lists made up 0.5% of the total voters and it was in line with the law.
“This figure can not impact the results of the elections in any constituency election commission,” he said.

CEC chairman said Gulaga Aslanli’s claims were not true.
