Mazahir Panahov: Any person can withdraw his candidacy, this is not blameful

Their steps serve the steps taken by the relevant party,â€ said chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov while commenting on some candidatesâ€™ statements on stopping the campaign, withdrawing candidacy, statements of some party representatives on the violation of law in the elections, Mazahir Panahov said being chairman of CEC he can not make clarification.
â€œBut there is a tradition in the world that some persons withdraw their candidacy in the election marathon. This is not blameful. In any country if a person withdraws his candidacy, he assesses his achievement and then passes a decision,â€ he said.

The candidacies of 741 persons have been registered for parliamentary elections. 53 of them have withdrawn their candidacies. 688 continue running for parliament.
