CEC: Umid Party officials say there was no violation in municipal elections

Members of the election commissions from Umid Party said there was no violation in the municipal elections on December 23, 2009, press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) told APA. Appeals by the Umid Party’s officials Nasimi Mammadli and Anvar Aghazadeh about violation of law during the voting process at the electoral districts No 29, 57, 61, 63, 64, 81 and 114 that the ballots were counted not in the polling stations, but in the electoral commissions, were investigated by CEC and the appeals were not proved. CEC identified that Umid Party’s officials didn’t observe the voting process in those polling stations. Members of the local election commissions from Umid Party also denied reports about violation of law. “They confirmed observation of Electoral Code in the voting process, counting of ballots at the polling stations and handover the final protocols to the electoral district commissions with the participation of the chairmen and secretaries of the election commissions of polling stations. The investigation showed that the Umid Party’s claims were not true and there were no grounds to accept the party’s appealâ€.
Umid Party’s official Nasimi Mammadli told APA that the issue will be investigated. “May be our representatives at the election commissions didn’t write such explanations. Even if they wrote it they did it under the pressureâ€. Mammadli said the public community would be informed after the issue was investigated completely. “We will discuss the issue with our representatives and observers at the elections commissions because we received the reports from our observers and members of the commissions. They couldn’t change their opinion within several daysâ€.
