Turkey’s Erdogan comments on U.S. threat of sanctions

If Europe had kept its promises, Turkey would have become a member of the European Union, and if the US had made the right choice about Afrin, the reality today would have been different, said Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkey has some interests that overlap with those of Russia and Iran and also others that do no, Erdogan said at a meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Tuesday, APA reported citing NTV channel.

“Critics of Turkey’s fight against terrorist organizations and purchase of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia had better look at themselves; they are silent at Greece’s purchase of Russian S-300s. Yet the US threatens Turkey with sanctions in response to its purchase of S-400s. This is a traditional approach that is wrong and does not work about Turkey,” the Turkish leader added.
