Lead singer of The Cranberries dies aged 46 in London


Dolores O’Riordon, lead singer of Irish rock band The Cranberries, has died in London aged 46, her publicist announced on Monday evening, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

 

“Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old,” a statement from her publicist said.

 

“Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

 

The lead singer of the Irish band was in London for a short stay to conduct a recording session.

 

The Cranberries, formed in 1989 and sold over 40 million records, came to international fame with their 1993 album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? and produced popular hits such as Zombie and Linger.

 

Irish rock band, Kodaline were the first to pay tribute to O’Riordan on social media.

 

“Absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of Dolores O'Riordan! @The_Cranberries gave us our first big support when we toured with them around France years ago!

 

“Thoughts are with her family and friends,” they said in a statement.
