An American family, who promoted Azerbaijan carpet weaving, dies in Georgia

In the Georgian region of Dusheti, bodies of US citizens Raine Smith and his wife Laura Smith were discovered, APA’s Georgian bureau reports.

The couple, who went to Dusheti, died as a result of a flood and a landslide.

Note that the information about the missing family Smith entered the hotline "112" on July 6.

During the search and rescue activities, Laura Smith's body was discovered yesterday, and Raine Smith’s body was found today near the waterfall in the village of Khevi. No any traces of violence were found on the bodies.

The search for the body of 4-year-old son of them will resume tomorrow morning.

It should be noted that R. Smith was the founder and the head of the "ReWoven" project in Georgia, whose main goal is the restoration and popularization of the traditions of Azerbaijani carpet weaving in Georgia. Having a dual citizenship, R. Smith lived in Marneuli in recent years. Before that, he also worked in Azerbaijan, in particular, Gusar and Baku.
