7 detained in operation in predominantly Azerbaijani district in Georgia

In a series of operations, 7 people have been detained on suspicions of drug trafficking in Georgia’s predominantly-Azerbaijani district of Marneuli and Ponichala (Soghanlig) settlement of Tbilisi.

The detainees were found to have regularly engaged in drug trafficking, APA’s local bureau reported citing Georgia’s Interior Ministry.

The drugs discovered during an inspection of their homes were gathered as pieces of material evidence.

Georgia’s Interior Ministry is carrying out investigation under the articles relating to storage, purchase and sale of narcotic substances.

The detainees are expected to face 8 to 20 years in prison.
