Car crash leaves at least seven dead in Russia's southern Urals


At least seven people died after a multiple-vehicle collision in Russia's southern Orenburg Region, local police source said Saturday, APA reports quoting Sputnik.



"Three cars collided in the region on a motorway of regional significance. Seven people have died, according to preliminary information," the source told RIA Novosti. Road police and medical workers are currently on the scene, the source added.


A regional Emergencies Ministry spokeswoman said seven more people were injured, including three children.



"Seven people died in the accident, another seven were injured. They have now been hospitalized. Three men and four women died. There are no children among these, but there are children among those injured. These include two boys, born in 2006 and 2010 and a one-year old girl," Tatiana Samoilova told RIA Novosti. The ministry said four cars were involved, namely a Nissan, a Kia, a Toyota and a Skoda. The road accident occurred on a motorway between Orenburg and Orsk, according to the regional Interior Ministry branch.
