US New Jersey State recognizes Khojaly Massacre

Vusala Mahirgizi talked about Khojaly genocide at Turkish TGRT TV channel
At the telecast dedicated to Khojaly genocide V. Mahirgizi noted that 20 years passed from the genocide and during these years Azerbaijan has done serious works to show all the world Khojaly genocide, APA reports. “Several years ago “Justice to Khojaly” company was started on vice-president of Haydar Aliyev foundation Leyla Aliyeva’s initiative. The exhibitions are arranged in a number of countries for Khojaly genocide. Books are published related to those incidents. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide the photos were revealed that shocked everybody. That time French photographer being on a business trip to Caucasus could keep the genocide in the photos. The photos not demonstrated anywhere were bought by European Azerbaijan Society in London and was exhibited in Baku.

Azerbaijani Parliament adopts decision on Khojaly genocide
APA reports that the draft decision was prepared by the commission chaired by first vice speaker of the parliament Ziyafat Asgarov. The decision was read by Jale Aliyeva. Following this, the decision was put to the vote and adopted.

APA reports that the genocide occurred in Khojaly city of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno Karabakh region on February 26, 1992 was commemorated during the prayer: “We share the grief of friendly and fraternal Azerbaijani people on the days of anniversary of massacre committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani civilians. Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan told APA that the document was adopted according to the petition which was presented to German Bundestag by Society for the Promotion of German-Azerbaijani Relations with the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide.

Chairman of Azerbaijani Constitutional Court: “The vandalisms committed by Armenians in Khojaly are the same as genocide crimes condemned by the international conventions”
The Court told APA that in his speech, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev spoke about Khojaly genocide which is the bloody page of Azerbaijan’s recent history, as well as the other horrible massacres committed by Armenians against our people. He said that the vandalisms and bloody massacre committed by Armenians in Khojaly were the same as genocide crimes condemned by the international conventions: “613 people, including 106 women, 63 children, 70 old people were killed, 1275 people were taken captive and 155 people went missing as a result of horrible massacre perpetrated in a night by the Armenian armed forces and personnel of USSR’s 366th motorized rifle regiment based in Khankendi”.

Exhibition on Khojaly genocide held in Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Islamic Conference Youth Forum told APA that adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Hakan Hakyemez, Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva, chief of Turkey-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Necdet Unuvar made speeches in the opening ceremony of the exhibition and demanded from the world society to give legal assessment to this genocide. Information booklets about the genocide were distributed among the visitors of the exhibition.

French embassy in Azerbaijan told APA that the program dedicated to the 20th anniversary of this tragic event, underlined that 613 Azerbaijanis, including women and children were killed in Khojaly by the Armenians. The correspondent interviewed with a woman from Khojaly and Anar Usubov, who was 10-year-old during that event. They spoke about the Armenian vandalism. Baku - APA. The Azerbaijani America Alliance (AAA) launched the campaign on the Khojaly Genocide that covers hundreds of millions of people and consists of a wide range of events. In the framework of this campaign, posters and banners will fly high in central streets, railway and subway stations downtown New York and Washington D.C. It will be accompanied by statements of Congress members coupled with screening of documentaries dedicated to the Khojaly Genocide and undertaking other similar events.

Traffic to be restricted in some streets and avenues of Baku on February 26
Department chief of Baku State Traffic Police Office Vagif Asadov told APA that the roads in the direction of Azadlig Square, Neftchilar Avenue and Khojaly Park will be closed beginning from 07.30 in morning in connection with the marching and commemorating event in Baku on February 26 in connection with the 20th anniversary of Khojaly genocide. The traffic will be also restricted in Azneft circle, Neftchilar avenue, Heydar Aliyev, Babek, Nobel avenues, 10th plant, Javanshir bridge, Pushkin, Yusif Safarov, Najafgulu Rafiyev, M. Mehdizadeh, Ayaz Ismayilov and Tagizadeh streets and the direction will be changed. The roads will be closed till the end of the ceremony.
