Baku – APA. Azerbaijani national women’s handball team participates in the world championship qualifying in Pljevlja, Montenegro. Apasport.az website reports that our national team defeated Bulgaria in the first match and Italy in the second match.
The national team coached by Rafiga Shabanova defeated Italian team 28:25 (17:10). Marina Tankatskaya, captain of Azeri national team, who is legionary in Romania’s “Tomis†club, was the most productive player of the match (8 scores). In the other two matches in the group Montenegro defeated Finland (37:24) and Slovenia defeated Bulgaria (31:20).
The participants of the tournament will rest today. Azerbaijani national team will have the next match against Finland tomorrow.
According to the regulations, only one team will be qualified for the play-off stage of the world championship.
