Baku. Elshen Mammedov – APA-Sport. “It will be the second time that I join Summer Olympic Games. I will perform more successfully than I did in 2004 Athens”, Azeri taekwondo fighter Rashad Ahmedov told APA-Sport before 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ahmedov (80 kg) will represent Azerbaijan in taekwondo competition alone. He stated that he will try to avoid mistakes made in Athens.
“I was 22 that time. Now I am 26. I gained more experience in international arenas. I will try to avoid the mistakes I made in Athens”, he said.
The sportsman noted that he has prepared for the competition very seriously. He said it is time he reap the fruit of years’ labor. Ahmedov believes to gain success in Beijing Olympics.
“It is not to make promising statements. Everything will be seen in the competition. I have tried very hard. During the training period in South Korea, we prepared with local sportsmen, as well as Iranian and French fighters. We are training in the sports hall of Taekwondo Center. I witnessed dubious decisions of referees many times in Athens Olympics and world championships. I hope everything will be fair this time”, he said.
The fighter will join the competition on August 22. He said all 15 competitors are opponents to him.
