Azerbaijan becomes 3rd in world championship

Istanbul. Elshen Mammedov - APA-Sport. Greco-Roman wrestling competition of world championship held in Istanbul, Turkey, has come to its end, APA-Sport reports.
Azerbaijani team consisting of 7 wrestlers managed to score one gold and 2 bronze medals. Rafig Huseynov (66 kg) beat Rainier Leskay Torres (Kuba) in first encounter but was defeated by Said Abdevali (Iran) in 1/8 final. In the struggle for bronze medal, he won over Jong-Geun Li (South Korea), Sherur Vardanyan (Sweden) and Daniel Yanechic (Croatia) and took the third place.
Elvin Murseliyev (74 kg) scored gold medal and Hadjikhan Mustafayev (60 kg) bronze medal in the first day of the competition.
Khurshud Babashov (50 kg) was the 7th, Elcin Aliyev (55 kg) the 8th, Araz Hasanov (84 kg) the 15th and Samad Jabrayılov (96 kg) the 13th. In total score Azerbaijan took the 3rd place with 33 points, following Turkey (59 points) and Iran (50 points). The competition included the wrestlers from 43 countries.
