Attempts to create chaos and panic in Azerbaijan do not have any prospects, Ziyafat Asgarov, First Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Chairman of the parliament’s Committee on Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption told APA.

He was commenting on the incidents that took place in the country’s Ganja city on July 10.

Having gained its independence, Azerbaijan has always come out with dignity from such tests, noted Asgarov.

“Azerbaijan is a solid legal state. Therefore, such actions will be immediately prevented, and those who attempt to violate Azerbaijan’s constitutional system, state independence and sovereignty will be punished. Forces that commit such crimes, terrorist acts with the support of their patrons abroad will not succeed,” he said.

The deputy speaker recalled that although Azerbaijan faced such events in the 1990s, it managed to overcome this situation.

Asgarov call on Ganja residents, all Azerbaijani citizens to be more united around the Azerbaijani President and statehood, to help the state and law enforcement bodies suppress such actions.

The deputy speaker underlined that these once again demonstrated the youth’s activity in the defense of the Azerbaijani statehood and independence.

“A group of criminal elements attempted to create chaos in Ganja yesterday. Ganja residents have once again shown their loyalty to the state. Such attempts will be resolutely prevented. Undoubtedly, people will not support such actions. Unfortunately, two police officers were killed while suppressing the criminal elements. I offer my condolences to their families,” he added.
