On July 12, Azerbaijan will announce its priorities for the 2018 Chairmanship of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said at a press conference on July 11, APA reports.

Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan, during its chairmanship, will attach great importance to establishing ties among the BSEC member states and will promote cooperation in the fields of transport, tourism, energy, information and communication.

“Armenia’s statements that “Azerbaijan politicizes the BSEC agenda” are groundless. Azerbaijan calls on the BSEC member states to follow the organization’s charter and goals, as well as decision made at the council of foreign ministers,” he said.

The BSEC aims to promote and develop real regional cooperation among the member states at the area of Black Sea, the spokesman stressed.

“The occupation of territories of one country by another is inadmissible. Therefore, Azerbaijan will not cover up such disruptive actions. Cases that hinder the activity of the organization must be publicly stated,” he added.

The spokesman underlined that Azerbaijan supports real regional and sectoral cooperation within international organizations.
