Belgium defeated Japan 3-2 Monday night in a World Cup Round of 16 match to advance to quarterfinals against Brazil, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

The match at Rostov Arena saw a miraculous comeback from the Red Devils, as they were down 0-2 in the 52nd minute but managed to escape with a victory in the last kick of the match.

Japan took control with two goals within five minutes to take control, but Belgium did not give up.

Answering with their own quickfire double within five minutes, Belgium managed to equalize the game 2-2 in the 74th minute.

In the last minute of injury time, Japan's corner kick was quickly turned into a counter-attack by Belgium, outmanning Japan's defense to clinch a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Japan scored with Genki Haraguchi and Takashi Inui, but Belgium replied with Jan Vertonghen, Marouane Fellaini, and Nacer Chadli to set up a quarterfinal clash with Brazil.

Brazil, in the first match of the day, defeated Mexico 2-0 to advance to the last eight.
