MES: Fire extinguished in Mingachevir TPS, electricity supply being restored - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED-1

Currently, the situation at Mingachevir TPP is under control and the fire has been extinguished, cooling actions continue, APA reports quoting the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

“Electricity supply will be gradually restored in the country. There is no reason to panic,” the MES official said.

It should be noted that as a result of the incident there were no casualties or injuries. Electricity has been restored to some of the northern regions of the country and will be restored throughout the country within several hours.

The Fire in the Mingachevir Thermal Power Station has been extinguished, APA reports.

The accident occurred at the 6th block of the Power station. That block is engaged in energy production and transmits energy to distribution plants. The fire occurred in this block was extinguished.

An overload of the electric energy is considered the cause of the incident.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has been involved in the accident and the fire at the 6th block and substation has been extinguished.

An accident occurred in the first and the sixth power units at the "Azerbaijan" Thermal Power Station, located in the city of Mingachevir, APA reports.

The fire in the largest power plant in the country continues. Firefighting units from Mingachevir and surrounding areas of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the scene. The cause of the accident is unknown yet. At present, electricity supply has been stopped in the most regions of the country.
