The EU summit held on June 28-29 in Brussels did not find a solution to the migration crisis in Europe, Russia’s Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on Rossiya’1 TV channel in the Vesti on Saturday with Sergei Brilev news program, APA reports quoting TASS.

"To my mind, the EU summit failed to adopt meaningful agreements on the most acute issue - migration in Europe," she said. "In my opinion, the shift of discussion is wrong. Instead of funding the construction of new ‘concentration camps’ for refugees, they should look into the root of the matter, why this could happen."

The upper house speaker is convinced that "money should go to Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya so as to stop the wars there. Also, money should go on reconstruction of infrastructure, peaceful life, reconstruction of houses, water supplies and healthcare." Only then, refugees will be able to return "to their homes, to their homeland," she added.
