On June 27, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs in the US Department of State Alice Wells, according to the press service for the Azerbaijani president.
Ms Alice Wells expressed her gratitude for Azerbaijan’s hosting the meeting of the International Contact Group for Afghanistan, noting that this event is of enormous importance.
The guest said she is pleased to be visiting Azerbaijan following the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the official opening of the Shahdeniz-2 project. She mentioned US President Donald Tramp’s congratulatory letters to the President of Azerbaijan on these important events, and extended her own congratulations as well.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that the Azerbaijani side appreciates the US President's attitude to the country. At the same time, the head of state said the US government's support for the implementation of major energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan is of great importance. He said Azerbaijan has always felt US support in the implementation of various energy projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor project, which is of great importance.
