Translation of historian Frederick Starr’s book ‘Lost Enlightenment: Central Asia's Golden Age from the Arab Conquest to Tamerlane’ was presented at ADA University.

APA reports that Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev said that the book introduces new view to the history of Central Asia. He noted that the book was translated by Nariman Gasimoglu, member of professor staff of the university.

Thereafter, author Frederick Starr said that interest in his book is increasing recently and it is translated into 23 languages: ‘The book is about Central Asia, but Azerbaijan has also been mentioned in it. Saying Central Asia we mean wider region, not only Soviet Union. I use notion ‘wide Central Asia’ and this is cultural zone. Nizami Ganjavi’s Leyli and Majnun should not be limited with the Caspian Sea. As well, mathematician, astronomer Nesreddin Tusi built a unique observatory in here’.

Editor of the book is Farda Asadov. Preface was written by Hafiz Pashayev. The book was published by Gafgaz publishing house in 2017.
