Housing conditions of 265,000 refugees, IDPs improved in Azerbaijan so far: State Committee

A residential complex of 33 million sq m, consisting of 98 modern settlements and multi-storey buildings, has been built for refugees and internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan so far, said Fuad Huseynov, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs.

He made the remarks addressing a plenary session of the 15th Baku International Conference of Ombudspersons, entitled “The role of national human rights institutions in ensuring and promoting human rights”, APA reports.

The deputy chairman noted that AZN 2.4 billion has been spent to improve the living conditions of refugees and IDPs. "2.1 billion of this money is the State Oil Fund's funds," Huseynov said.

Over the past 25 years, 6.6 billion manats have been spent to solve the problems of refugees and IDPs, added Huseynov.
