Some clerics have been prosecuted in Azerbaijan for concluding the marriage of minors (kyabin – religious registration of marriage), Gunduz Ismayilov, deputy chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations told a round table in the parliament on Wednesday, APA reports.
"The Caucasian Muslims Office has issued a fatwa concerning religious marriages but is there anyone complying with this? Unfortunately, no. Sometimes, clerics who were not officially appointed, do not comply with this fatwa. Some even officiate the marriage of minors," he added.
