Azerbaijani MP, Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Siyavush Novruzov has objected to criminalization of bride kidnapping in the country.
Bride kidnapping absolutely differs from the case of abduction, and it is wrong to equate the two under law, Novruzov told a round table in the parliament on Wednesday, APA reports.
“There is on one hand, committing a crime by kidnapping due to temptation and then there are two people who love each other and the girl runs away with the boy. It is wrong to impose the same penalty on both. We must amend the law to distinguish the two,” he added.
