Two private houses collapsed and two others were partially destroyed after a landslide hit Bayil slope in Baku’s Sabail district on May 15 at about 8:00 PM, the district executive authority told APA.

Another 20 private houses are located in the landslide zone, said the district executive authority.

Existing residential and other buildings in the area were built during the Soviet era, mainly in the 50s of the last century. Most of them are single-storey houses, with no solid foundation, and have been exhausted since they have been in use for many years. Most of the houses fall in the balance of the Sabail Public Utility Union.

Earlier, the experts of the Sabail District Executive Authority and Ministry of Emergency Situations inspected the condition of the buildings in the area, and their opinion was that the buildings were damaged and could not be repaired.

The district executive authority has appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers on the issue.

The district executive authority carried out preventive measures and moved families living on Bukhta street 9, which was in an emergency condition.

In general, 22 families (55 people) were relocated from the dangerous area in Bukhta street. Police posts were arranged at the area, there are no injured.

Local residents hope that the Cabinet of Ministers will resolve the problem soon.
