Specialists of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) have conducted monitoring in connection with the strong odor in the atmosphere of Baku’s Khatai, Nizami, Sabail districts, analyzing and taking samples of the atmospheric air.
According to the results of the analysis, the causes of the unpleasant smell in the air were determined, the Ministry’s National Hydrometeorology Department told APA.
The amount of gas mixtures in the air exceeded sanitary standards.
It was revealed that the main source of the unpleasant smell was the industrial wastewater treatment services of the oil refinery plant and Ekol Engineering Services CJSC.
Due to non-compliance with the technical process and wastewater treatment standards, these companies were officially notified. Currently, law enforcement measures are being taken against the offenders.
