Liverpool have advanced to UEFA Champions League final after eliminating Roma on a 7-6 aggregate on Wednesday evening, APA reports quoting Anadolu Agency.

Sitting on a 5-2 first leg victory, Liverpool did not take the scoreline for granted and established a 2-1 half time lead at Stadio Olimpico.

However, a resilient Roma team refused to be beaten at home and proved better at the second half with three goals, including a last minute penalty.

Saido Mane opened the scoreline for Liverpool in the 9th minute, but could not hold the lead with James Milner own goal in the 15th minute.

Despite going down 2-1 in the 25th minute on a Georgio Wijnaldum goal, Roma pushed the tempo in the second half with Edin Dzeko, who scored in the 52nd minute to tie the match at 2-2.

Belgian powerhouse midfielder Radja Nainggolan scored a late brace for his team, but it was too little too late for Roma.

Liverpool, meanwhile, broke the Champions League scoring record with 46 goals after tonight's match, surpassing Barcelona's record of 45 goals in 1999/2000 season.

The Reds will face Real Madrid in Kyiv final on May 25.
