Former Azerbaijani MP Huseyn Abdullayev wanted by Interpol has been detained in Turkey and handed over to Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev is currently being interrogated in the investigative department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Taxes, APA reports.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the information on Abdullayev’s detention to APA.
Abdullayev’s detention was first reported by Qafqazinfo.az.
A criminal case was opened against the former MP under Article 213.2.2 (large-scale tax evasion) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan in 2012. Azerbaijan’s law enforcement authorities issued an international arrest warrant for Abdullayev as he fled the country.
