There are islets in the Aegean Sea the status of which is not envisaged in the Treat of Lausanne, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a press conference with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Monday.

“A while ago there were tensions over the Kardak rocks. Yesterday the flag of Greece was hoisted an islet. Our soldiers pulled it out. If this happens tomorrow, then we will do it again. There is no need for such a tension, it can provoke an armed conflict. Greece’s defense minister prefers populism. We call on the Greek side to avoid steps that can lead to tension in the Aegean Sea,” Cavusoglu said.
