The results of the April 11 presidential election in Azerbaijan reflect the people’s will, Mario David, head of the Portuguese observation mission, said at the press conference in Baku April 12, APA reports.

He noted the decision to call an early presidential election in Azerbaijan was legitimate.

According to the Portuguese observer, the presidential election held yesterday was remarkable in many ways.

"All candidates were given the opportunity to propagandize their platforms. Even parties that boycotted the election were allowed to hold demonstrations. During the election campaign, human rights such the freedoms of assembly, speech and conscience,” he said, noting that the voting process was technically efficient and consistent with national legislation.

"We observed all stages until the voting was over, and there were no serious violations that could have affected the voting outcome. The election was free, efficient and transparent. We are convinced that the outcome of this election reflects the will of the Azerbaijani people,” David added.
