In an operation carried out in Bilasuvar district, Shirvan city resident Khayal Demirov was detained by officers of the main anti-drug department. During inspection, 18.12kg opium was found from his car, the Interior Ministry told APA.
Further investigations revealed that the detainee came into contact with an Iranian drug dealer on a social networking site (odnoklassniki.ru). The latter then offered collaboration in selling large amounts of opium which we would send to Azerbaijan.
It became clear that the Iranian drug dealer pinpointed the exaction location of the opium for Khayal to take it. The detainee admitted to having sold the opium for 40,000 US dollars and having sent the money to his Iranian partner little by little.
The fact is under investigation.
