Azerbaijani Interior Ministry dismisses reports on attempted protest outside polling station

On 11 April 2018, the TURKPA International Observation Mission started to observe the presidential election in Azerbaijan.

The mission includes parliamentarians from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and diplomatic staff of the TURKPA Secretariat, APA reports.

Until now, TURKPA observers visited polling stations â„–1, â„–2, â„–12, â„–13 and â„–5 of the 44 Sumgait-Khizi Election Constituency and polling stations â„–9, â„–10, â„–22 of the 42 Sumgait Election Constituency. After Sumgait, the TURKPA delegation led by Mr. Haluk Ipek, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, are heading to the Khirdalan city.

Haluk Ipek hailed the high voter turnout in the presidential election, noting that the electoral process continues transparently.

Azerbaijan is holding presidential election today, on April 11. Eight candidates are registered for participating in the election.

The election is observed by 894 international observers and 58,175 local observers.

The voting will end at 19:00 local time.
