At least nine schoolchildren were killed and 10 others injured on Saturday when a speeding vehicle ran them over while they were crossing a busy highway in eastern Bihar state, APA reports quoting Anadolu agency.
The accident occurred in Muzaffarpur district when the students left their school after classes ended for the day, local media reported.
"Nine students have died. Ten others have been admitted to a hospital for treatment, out of which two are in critical condition," Vivek Kumar, a senior police officer in the area told Anadolu Agency on the phone.
He said two adults were among the victims.
The driver of the speeding vehicle is yet to be arrested.
