Appeals have been sent to international organizations, whom Azerbaijan is a member, to monitor the upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan, spokesman of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Hikmat Hajiyev said on Feb.22.
Hajiyev said that the Foreign Ministry has sent an invitation to the UN, the OSCE, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the CIS, the Cooperation Council of the Turkic-Speaking States, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and other international organizations.
He added that the process continues.
“Transparent, democratic and free elections are held in Azerbaijan,” the spokesman noted.
Next presidential election in Azerbaijan is to be held on April 11, 2018, according to an order signed by the country's President Ilham Aliyev on February 5.
