A soldier succumbed to his wounds at a hospital in southeastern Hakkari province on Saturday, according to a security source, APA reports quoting AA.

On Thursday, one Turkish soldier was martyred and five others injured in a missile attack by PYD/PKK terrorists which was launched from northern Iraq toward a military base in Hakkari’s border district of Cukurca.

One of the five wounded soldiers succumbed to his wounds on Saturday at Hakkari State Hospital, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

A wide-scale operation has been launched in the region to find the perpetrators.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and the EU.

In its over three-decade-long terror campaign against Turkey, over 40,000 people have been killed, including women and children.
