In recent days, new cracks have emerged on the landslide-affected slopes of Bayil, Sabail district, as well as in the area around the Baku TV tower due to the impact of recent rainfall

The Sabail District Executive Authority told APA that concerned officials have visited the area, noting that landslides are not unusual of this area.

“Landslides become active from time to time. Increased precipitation and other causes are also contributing factors. Old, illegally built houses, their communication lines being in poor conditions also worsen the situation. In consideration of the seriousness of the situation, a headquarters has been created at the Sabail District Executive Authority in order to ensure safety of the residents.

The scope of the landslide, the addresses of existing buildings and the population of this area has been identified with the participation of experts. In order to ensure the safety of the residents, special evacuation and placement plans have been prepared and the places where citizens will be temporarily placed have been determined.

Currently, there is no serious trouble and the territory is under control by relevant bodies. Head of the district executive authority Eldar Azizov held a meeting and gave instructions to the heads of services, organizations and other fields. Permanent monitoring of the site is being carried out; information on installed signaling devices and any changes occurring are immediately communicated. The processes taking place in the area are controlled by the Cabinet of Ministers," the statement said.
