We are committed to all the democratic traditions of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and we live in these traditions. But I should also note that today's Azerbaijan can not be compared with the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Because at that time there were difficulties and our independence did not allow Azerbaijan to pursue an independent policy. We had economic difficulties, land losses, and our historical city Iravan was given to Armenia. Therefore, we have to properly analyze the activities of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. We should not hide these positive and difficult moments. But despite all the hardships and, of course, the irrational wound - giving Yerevan to Armenia, the activity of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic is highly valued by the Azerbaijani state and people."

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to declare 2018 the ‘Year of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic’ in the country.
The order notes that the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic will be celebrated in 2018. For the solemn holding of this remarkable event at the state level, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to prepare and implement a plan of events under the presidential decree (dated 16 May 2017) on the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
In addition, many events will be held both in the country and abroad in this regard during this year.
