Grandson of famous Azerbaijani intellectual Ahmed bey Agaoglu passes away

The grandson of famous Azerbaijani intellectual Ahmed bey Agaoglu, famous writer and journalist, Tektas Agaoglu, has died aged 84.

Tektas Agaoglu died in a clinic in the Turkish city of Istanbul on January 9, APA reported citing Turkish media.

Tektas Agaoglu was born in 1934 in Istanbul. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Oxford University. He is the author of the translation of works by Dostoevsky, Sholokhov and Remark. In 1973, Tektas Agaoglu was arrested for translating the works of Marks and Engeles.

In the 1980s, the writer had to live in Switzerland. Agaoglu held various positions in a number of popular Turkish newspapers and magazines, and for some time he worked as an editor on BBC Radio.
