Persons accused of committing crimes that caused a wide public resonance in Azerbaijan last year have been exposed, said Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov.
He made the remarks on Friday at a meeting dedicated the work done in 2017 and the tasks ahead, APA reports.
Garalov said that during the reporting period, the Investigative Directorate for Serious Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office carried out a thorough investigation of the most resonant crimes, including premeditated killings, all the accused persons were brought to justice and preventive measures were taken after the disclosure of the causes of the crimes.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, took the necessary measures to ensure the socio-political situation in the country, to strengthen the fight against crime and to protect citizens’ rights and freedoms,” he added.
Garalov noted that in 2017 prosecuting authorities also continued combating bribery and corruption in the country.
