Georgia experiences negative population growth

Georgia has seen a decrease of population by 2,200 people compared to last year’s figures, APA’s local bureau reported citing a report by the country’s National Statistics Office.

According to the report, women outnumber men in the neighboring country (1,936,700 women and 1,781,500 men). 57.2% of the population is concentrated in cities and the rest live in rural areas.

Figures of the population’s ethnic composition date back to 2014. According to these data, the country has 233,000 Azerbaijani population, constituting 6.3% of Georgia’s total population.
