At today’s plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament, lawmaker Gudrat Hasanguliyev criticized the idea of banning the media from writing about the Armed Forces, APA reported.
In speech during the discussion of the newly-developed bill on the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the MP stressed that this move is wrong, saying “problems will increase if the army is not covered [by the media]”.
“Of course, military secrets have to be kept, and are kept anyway, but it is not right to prohibit or restrict professional journalists from writing about the army,” he added.
MP Azay Guliyev also emphasized the importance of public control over the army.
