"From the early days of independence, friendly relations have emerged and developed between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan,” Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Beybit Isabayev said at a reception held on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of his country's independence, APA reports.

He said that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are now a strategic partner.

"There is a great future for relations between the two countries. Our relations are based on mutual respect and our countries demonstrate a common position on a number of issues within international and regional organizations,” he said.

Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said that Kazakhstan has become one of the leading countries in the region over the past 26 years.

"Our friendship based on friendship and partnership is developing rapidly in a number of areas, especially in the energy sector. Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have turned into a powerhouse in Central Asia and the Caspian basin. Astana has always demonstrated the same position as Baku on issues of crucial importance to Azerbaijan. Our two countries have great potential for the development of relations in all spheres,” he said.
