Russia has never requested an agrément from the government of Azerbaijan for Georgy Zuev, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference in Vienna on Friday, APA reported.

Russia’s top diplomat said that he is informed of the reports on this issue.

“However, contacts between some parties and its influence on politics do not meet the norms of modern culture,” added Lavrov.

He noted that the new Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan will be sent to the country as soon as incumbent ambassador Vladmir Dorokhin completes his mission.

On July 5 of this year the Russian media reported that the State Duma had approved Zuev’s candidacy for the post of the country’s ambassador to Azerbaijan. However, according to recent unofficial reports, the Azerbaijani refused to issue an agrément for Zuev.
