The draft Convention on the status of the Caspian Sea has been coordinated, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told reporters on Wednesday, APA reported.

“As Lavrov mentioned, we can say that the 20-year talks on the status of the Caspian Sea have been completed successfully,” said Khalafov.

He noted that after legal and technical procedures the document could be submitted for signing at the upcoming Caspian summit.

"There have been major differences in approaches of many countries from time to time. We have made such an achievement over 21 years as a result of the impetus given by the heads of state,” said Khalafov, stressing that this document is going to be a permanent document which will regulate the activities of countries in the Caspian Sea.

This convention does not give preference to any state but instead ensures equal rules of conduct, added Khalafov.
