Georgia’s Media Development Foundation (MDF) has presented the media monitoring findings on coverage of Muslim-related topics in Georgian, Russian, Azerbaijani and Turkish traditional and new media.

The goal of the media monitoring was to study the factors conducive to radicalization of Muslim youth and explore the role of media in this process.

The monitoring, conducted from June 15 to September 15, found out that Georgian Rustavi 2, Imedi, Public Television (ITV) and Adjara television channels had broadly covered the topics related to Muslims. Among Azerbaijan’s media outlets, APA Information Agency has revealed as a main source of information for ITV and Rustavi 2 channels.

The related topics were mostly covered in the online media by Interpress and PIA news agencies, as well as Netgazeti and Georgia & the World publications. PIA News Agency and Netgazeti online publication have referred to APA Information Agency as the main source of information for topics concerning Muslims.

Georgia’s Media Development Foundation was established in 2008 by a group of professional journalists. Apart from implementing analysis and educational projects, the organization also holds training and public discussions. MDF also publishes educational and professional literature on media.
