EU concerned over unresolved conflicts in Eastern Partnership region

The European Union is concerned over the unresolved conflicts in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region, APA cited an EU official as saying.

The EU supports efforts aimed at resolving the conflicts in the EaP region, said the official, adding. “Such support will be once again expressed at the upcoming EaP summit.”

The diplomat also referred to EU’s relations with Azerbaijan.

“Progress has been made in relations with Azerbaijan since the last summit,” the official said. “We are currently negotiating on a new comprehensive agreement which will be developed on the basis of the previous agreement on partnership and cooperation. We hope the negotiations will be finalized soon. We also plan to initial an aviation agreement with Azerbaijan.”

Azerbaijan is an important energy supplier for the EU, stressed the diplomat, adding. “Energy efficiency is an essential issue and is an important part of the upcoming EaP summit.”
