Siyavush Novruzov, Azerbaijani MP, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), has proposed closure of the country’s embassies in some countries.

Addressing a parliamentary discussion of the state budget package for 2018, Novruzov said that Azerbaijan has embassies in all countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltic states, but it has no embassy in Australia.

“We need to reconsider to this issue. In general, we need to control this. We must close embassies in countries with no need for them. Thus, there will be created conditions for the normal operation of the embassies where they are necessary,” added the MP.

Given the 2018 presidential election in Azerbaijan, Novruzov also proposed to increase financial resources to political parties.
