Negotiations on a new agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union can be concluded next year, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev told APA.

“If we try, it will be possible to conclude a new agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU next year,” he said.

The next round of the negotiations between Azerbaijan and the EU will take place on November 27-28, noted Mammad-Guliyev.

“This round of the negotiations will focus on political and security issues. Then, a videoconference can take place,” said the deputy minister, adding that he does not believe that the agreement can be reached by the end of this year.

“It looks unreal. Several serious issues such as trade, investment, sector, political and security are being discussed,” he said.

The diplomat emphasized that the Azerbaijani side still does not raise the issue of the title of the agreement. “Both sides put forward their own version of the title. We want this to be an important, comprehensive and deep agreement. The title of the agreement can also be determined at the last round of the negotiations,” he added.
