The Azerbaijan Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company has addressed a letter to Director General of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Noel Curran.

The available information that Armenian representative Misha (Michael Grigoryan) is intending to resort to a political provocation at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 caused serious concern in Azerbaijan, whose 20 percent of lands are under Armenian occupation, the company’s public relations department told APA.

The Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company states that it is inadmissible for Michael Grigoryan, under the pretext of his being from Khankendi, to perform under the flag of the self-proclaimed “Nagorno-Karabakh Republic” and introduce himself as a member of a musical group called “The Voice of Artsakh”.

“We believe that the European Broadcasting Union, which repeatedly and persistently declares its alienation from political games, will understand Azerbaijan’s position in this sensitive issue, resolutely prevent the political provocation and will not allow children’s turning into a tool of separatism and political players on the stage which attracts the whole Europe’s attention. We think that Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 is a musical scene and this grandiose event is designed to give joy, pleasant moments to children all over the world,” the company said in its letter.
